Civil rights in the United States of America

Civil rights in the United States of America are at the heart of what makes America so special among the history of nations on planet Earth.

Definition of U.S. Civil Rights   A broad range of privileges and rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and subsequent amendments and laws that guarantee fundamental freedoms to all individuals.

Both major political parties claim that they are the guardians of America’s civil rights. Yet the Republican Party and the Democratic Party do not have similar civil rights histories. In fact their records could not be more different. One party would like us to believe that the “Civil Rights Movement” began in the 1950s. But while a civil rights movement did occur at that time, the movement that changed the world and defined our country forever began before the Civil War and continues to this day. In fact, the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s could not have happened without the over 100 year civil rights history that preceded it.

This website — USCivilRightsHistory.com — is dedicated to documenting and maintaining the true history of U.S. Civil Rights. Even if you are a student of U.S. History you are encouraged to spend some time here. There’s a chance that you just might learn something new — even be surprised.
